Cairns Boat Hire has 8-person pontoon boats available for half and full day hire. The boats are shaded with comfortable padded seating, and have a central console driving system, for easy navigation. Your destination is Trinity Inlet, which is perfect for sightseeing and fishing. If you don’t have your own gear, we can add fishing rods, bait, BBQs and even BBQ packs, to create the ultimate hire package. This is awesome for small groups of families and friends and gives you the freedom to explore the waterways, in your own time. We also have a wheelchair accessible pontoon boat.

You do not need a marine licence to drive, but you must be at least 18 years of age – or you can hire one of our skippers to drive for you.

PONTOON BOATS

Our comfortable 8-person Cairns Boat Hire pontoon boats provide a stable ride and have a canopy for shade. There is no boat licence required, as they are easy to handle and our crew will show you how.

WHEELCHAIR ACCESSIBLE BOAT

We have an 8-person wheelchair accessible pontoon boat for hire, which has an easy access ramp, designed to allow access for wider chairs. This is available for boarding and disembarkation at our Cairns Marlin Marina base.

FISHING GEAR

If you don’t have your own fishing rods, no problem at all, we can hook you up with a hire package. We also have bait packs, or you can BYO.

BBQ LUNCH PACKS

Boating and BBQs – this is living! You can hire a BBQ to take on board, we can even provide a BBQ lunch pack, standard or deluxe. BYO drinks.

PONTOON BOATS Rates and Information

We’ve made the Cairns Boat Hire rates as flexible as possible, to suit any itinerary. You can hire our pontoon boats for a half day (4 hours) or a full day (8 hours). The boats are suitable for all ages. Fuel and life jackets are included in the hire rate. It is mandatory that children aged 8 years old and under wear a life jacket. You don’t need a marine licence to drive, but you must be at least 18 years of age. Another option is to hire one of our skippers to drive the boat for you – this is an additional $50 per hour and the skipper is included in the passenger count for the boat. Please note that the driver / hirer must always keep the pontoon boat within the designated area of operation in Trinity Inlet; a map will be provided at check-in. The boats are collected from and must be returned to Wharf A, Marlin Marina Cairns (which is adjacent to the Reef Fleet Terminal). Check-in is 15 minutes prior to your booked departure time. Anyone under 18 years of age must travel with a responsible guardian or adult. Safety briefings are provided. Please note: There is no swimming in Trinity Inlet at any time, due to the presence of saltwater crocodiles.

    Infants can sit on parents' lap. Children aged 2 years old and upwards must have their own seat. Children aged 12 years and under must wear a life jacket. Life jackets are provided and included in the boat hire rate.
  • Includes
    Boat Hire. Life Jackets. Fuel. Our crew will provide an introductory and safety briefing, as well as tips on the best fishing spots for the tides and day / time of travel. They are also on-hand to help you set off and re-dock your boat at the end.
  • What To Bring
    A hat, sun block, insect repellent, sunglasses, a smile on your dial and camera. At least one person should have a mobile phone, in case you need to contact us. You are also welcome to BYO drinks and snacks, rods and bait, ice and esky (or we can prepare and provide that for you).
